*sigh* I guess I didn't realize how much of an emotional tie we have to food!!
As most of you know I am on day 11 of my 2 week liquid diet...YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! I AM SO OVER IT!!
Anyways, my hubby made grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup tonite for dinner for him and the kids!! Grilled Cheese Sandwiches are my most favorite food!! I LOVE THEM!!! I went to the sink to make my shake and just started crying, tears were rolling down my cheek and I couldn't stop!!     wanted one so bad, they smelled so yummy and i knew how good they tasted and I lost it!!! I am sooo freakin' sick of this diet!! The first 3 days were very hard, then i started to get used to it, Now i am up to day 11 and I cannot take it anymore, I want food, y'all i am so hungry!!  I even went to the comissary (grocery store) today to go shopping for them and when my mom comes into town Tuesday and I did okay until I passed the deli and omigosh the smell that came from that place was heaven!! I almost started crying there too!! What is the deal?? I just wanted a bite of that grilled cheese. *sigh* I'm sorry, Im sitting here talking about this, but I knew you ladies would help me keep my chin up! You are the best!! WIll I ever be able to have grilled cheese sandwich after surgery? I NEED FOOD!!! UGH!!!

I can relate.  I'm not on a liquid diet, but I've been told to do a low-carb diet.  I'm on my second week and it's really killing me.  I never knew how badly I'd want, grits, toast, biscuits, crackers, and EVERYTHING else in the world that has carbs (and EVERYTHING has carbs, BTW).  Hang in there!

Hey Jamie....all those emotions are not just about food but all the other emotions you are going through right now.   According to my NUT and doc, you should be able to eat anything within a few months of surgery, if you want it.  I couldn't wait to get to soft foods and now it's like, why?   I am not hungry and eat cuz i have to.   This too shall pass.    Keep you chin up and know that all of this sacrifice will be worth it in 3 1/2 more days!! Take care and holler if you need us! Pam

((((Jami)))),

Hon, I know it's hard ... it's kinda supposed to be ... your body is starving and while it's for it's own good, it's doing everything in it's power to get you to give in and FEED it. Surgery is around the corner and will help a great deal. I promise. You will continue to do what you need to do to get that extra weight that is killing off. And while you are doing that I'm sure that you will work on making the lifestyle changes you'll need to make to ensure that you never see that weight again.

I'm so sorry that this is so hard now, but it will be so very worth it when you lose the weight and get your life back. You are so young and have so many years left to live healthy. You can do this!!! Remember that as you are doing this your liver is the first organ that affected by your weight loss. It is already healing itself from years of obesity. As it does, it will make the surgery you are about to undergo so much easier and safer for you. When you think of giving into the temptation, remember that what you are doing is going to make you healthier in very tangible terms ... in ways you that you can see and feel.

I'm so proud of you. Proud that you've stuck with it. Proud that you've reached out for support.

Believe in yourself ... you can, you can, you can.

Barb

I didn't do good on my liquid diet at all. I just caved in and went to freaking taco bell. The new cheezy taters came out and I had to have some. I ate 1/2 of them and then regreated it so bad. And they was not as good as I thought they would be anyway. I think it is just in our heads to eat. It has been a everyday thing and it is hard to one day just up and stop. Hope things go better for you. Good luck. When I get hungry I drink hot coffee or hot tea. Something hot feels good.

1. That is my most FAVORITE MEAL in the world, you and I are very much alike.

2. My husband cooked that last night for himself and I couldnt have it because bread does not sit good with me so I know how you feel, hang in there, you are almost at your date!!!!!!

3. I am so proud you did not cave in and eat. I know its so hard to be around food you love, and yes once your body can handle it you will be able to have Grilled cheese and tomato soup Im so proud of you for sticking it out and doing this liquid diet, Im sure it has been really rough to go from eating whatever you want to drinking the shakes

Try to stay strong.. your big day is almost here!!

Hugs

Jami, Good job on sharing what was going on in your head!!!  This part of the journey is very hard but believe me it is to make the rest of the trip safer and easier.  I PROMISE YOU:  You will be able to eat ANYTHING you want within a few months after this surgery.  This is NOT a life sentence!  It's life-changing, but it isn't a condemnation!  You will finally be able to enjoy life and all it has to offer without those monsters dictating your life to you.  You are doing great and you are almost there!  Keep sharing!  Try bouillon when the craving starts for something "solid". Can you have the tomato soup part?  You'll get there, Sweetie!

hang in there Jami, you can almost see the OR doors now...  next week this time, you will not want that grilled cheese... it  won't bother you at all if the family is eating your favorite foods.  This surgery will change more than the scale, it will change your life, for the good!  I'm only a little over 4 months out and I feel so much better, I have more energy and have lost 70 pounds, gone from a tight 24 to a 16/18 now.  Just keep your eye on the prize and get ready to say goodbye to all your current clothes!
